It’s blogmas day 5 and 16th of December! Today I will be sharing with you some hyped books that I won’t be reading. Of course I can’t say never but it’s pretty likely I won’t ever pick these up.
When a book gets a lot of hype even before it’s published and sometimes even more after that, it eats some of my desire to read them. Usually I get so into the hype that I just don’t want to pick up the book anymore because my expectations are so high and I don’t want to be disappointed. When a hyped book turns out to be something completely opposite for me, it starts to drag me towards reading slump.
Disclaimer: I do not mean that these books will be bad or anything. It’s only me and my brain that just whispers “don’t read it, you won’t get on the hype train anyway after that”.
Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. As you probably know, I don’t read much romance anyway, so this wouldn’t be high on my TBR anyway. But this book has been popping out from left and right, it even won the romance category in Goodreads awards.
Again, but Better by Christine Riccio. This is a book written by a fellow book vlogger. It’s yet another book written by a vlogger that I won’t pick up. These seem to be hyped way before any publish dates or anything are set, I guess because they are written by popular vloggers/bloggers.
The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon. To be honest, I’m not sure what this book is about even. But the hype is one reason I don’t feel like reading it and the other is, this book is huge! I’m a slow reader and this would probably take a whole year to finish. 🙈
Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi. I hopped in the hype train with Children of Blood and Bone earlier this year. That only ended up with me DNFing the book. I just couldn’t get into the story and didn’t feel like continuing with the book. Thus, I won’t be picking this one up either.
With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo. If I have to pick up one book on this list that I’m not that sure if it should be on this list, it will be With the Fire on High. I haven’t read The Poet X at all, don’t even know what that is exactly about, and these both being hyped, I’m not sure whether to read this or not. This roams around food though and I can’t say no to food. And it has been said to have some recipes in there and I kind of want to check out what she’s cooking but I’m still a little hesitant.
Do you have some hyped books that you won’t be reading?
