Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly meme originally created at The Broke and the Bookish but is now hosted at That Artsy Reader Girl. Basically every week there’s different topic to list your own top 10, though I do them as top 5.
January 16: Bookish Resolutions/Goals
1. Buy more books!
Wait a minute, buy more books?! Yeah, I really want to buy more books. Last year I bought books only 2 times, the total of 6 books. I’d like to say that we don’t have money to buy any books but that’s not the case. The thing is that I’ve always put everyone else before myself. So every ‘leftover’ money I have to spend in a month, I tend to use it for my kids, dog and hubby rather than on my own needs. So this year I really want to learn to spend some money on me and start to think about myself more. Our kids have everything they need and a little more so they won’t have to suffer, no worries 😀
2. Make more time for reading and blogging
This is another thing that I should learn: delegate some housework for the hubby. He’s just as capable to do the dishes and put laundry in the washing machine as I am! He can also entertain our kids after he’s home from work as well as I can. Right now I do it all: I clean, take care of our kids, play with them, cook etc. and while doing everything, I try multitasking and read at the same time: it’s not very efficient. So this year I try to delegate some of that for others, I don’t have to do everything by myself, right?
3. Buy proper bookshelves
I’ve been meaning to buy proper bookshelves for like 6 months already. I do have a shelf for books but they don’t fit in it and it’s also broken. So I should drag myself to IKEA and fetch some bookshelves!
4. Listen to more audiobooks
Last year I listened to four audiobooks, I think. I really enjoyed them, maybe I got lucky with the narrators. Those were an awesome way to read while putting my kids to bet, driving, cleaning etc! So this year I want to listen even more audiobooks than I did last year. Our library has great collection of those and then I’m thinking about taking audible too.
5. Start going to the library with kids as often as we did before the baby was born
Before the baby we went to the library once a week. Now it has kind of been left behind, maybe I’m just too lazy to dress up three kids and get our buggy from our basement and everything else. But now I want to get that back to our schedule and start going there again after picking up my oldest from daycare.
